Habitus Medical Services, LLC

Clinical Practice • Ohio

The clinical practice of Desiderio Pina, MD, MPH.

About the Practice

Habitus Medical Services, LLC is the professional entity through which Desiderio Pina, MD, MPH provides clinical care. Dr. Pina is board-certified in general psychiatry and in psychosomatic medicine, and board-eligible in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry and in addiction medicine.

The clinical work is informed by active research at the intersection of neuroscience, computation, and robotics — a habit of asking how the nervous system actually organizes itself, and what that implies both for patients and for the machines we are now building to reason alongside us.

Professional background, writing, and research are available at desideriopinamd.com.

Areas of Practice

Dr. Pina’s clinical work sits at the intersection of neurology and psychiatry, with an integrative emphasis on nutrition and general wellness as adjuncts to standard medical care.

Cognitive, behavioral, and emotional presentations arising from neurological conditions.

Psychosomatic Medicine

The neuropsychiatric care of the medically and surgically ill.

General Psychiatry

Mood, anxiety, attention, and related conditions across the lifespan.

Integrative & Nutritional Approaches

Evidence-based complementary strategies within a rigorous medical framework.

Telepsychiatry

The practice includes telepsychiatry. Care may be provided by secure video visit to patients located in states where Dr. Pina holds an active medical license — see the licensure list below.

Details on availability, scheduling, and fees are being finalized and will be published here.

Research & Technology

Alongside the practice, Dr. Pina is the founder and sole inventor behind Habitus Cybernetics & Robotics, LLC, which holds a portfolio of nine provisional patent applications spanning neuromorphic and memory architectures, distributed agent coordination, and machine governance frameworks.

The research programs run in parallel: distributed, privacy-first intelligence infrastructure; GUNTER, a quadruped robot whose control hierarchy is derived from the organization of the mammalian central nervous system; and a neuromorphic hardware architecture. A five-paper academic series is in preparation for peer-reviewed venues in robotics, neuroscience, and biological cybernetics.

The through-line is clinical. Decades spent with patients whose motor and cognitive hierarchies were damaged at specific levels — each producing its own recognizable failure — turn out to describe an architecture worth building deliberately, and a useful lens on where current AI and agent systems are strong, and where they are not.

Writing & Education

Dr. Pina writes regularly for professional and general audiences on neuroscience, metabolism, mental health, and the science of intelligence — biological and artificial.

Additional educational media, including video, is in development.
